3RD SUICIDE IN JUST 45 DAYS – @IIT MADRAS
Suicides have become the Voice of Media very often these days; it is a serious call for people to start to consider mental health as something important.
India witnessed another suicide; a student native to West Bengal, who was doing his Ph.D. at IIT Madras was found dead in his room in Velachery, Tamil Nādu on Friday.
The victim was identified as Sachin Kumar, 32. Sahin was doing his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Sachin stayed with his friends in a rental house in Brahim street, Velachery, Tamil Nadu.
On Friday, Sachin left for the institute with his friends but returned to the room early, texting his friends that he was not feeling well. Later the deceased dropped a status on WhatsApp that said “I’m sorry, I’m not good enough”.
Sachin’s friends who were alerted by the status returned to the room in rush and found Sachin hanging. An ambulance was called immediately and Sachin’s body was sent to undergo inspection after which he was declared dead.
A case was registered and the reason for Sachin taking such an extreme step is being investigated.
The institute and its management expressed Voice of Media Tvbharat their condolence to the deceased’s family and also paid tribute to the lost soul. the institute also stated that the demise of such a great research scholar is a huge loss to the research community. It was requested by the institute that the privacy of the victim’s family members be respected during these rough times.
The students of Madras raised the point that – this is the 3rd suicide case in the past 45 days. A few days ago on March 14, Vaipu Pushpak Sree Sai also ended his life by hanging himself. Pushpak was a 20-year-old Andhra Pradesh native student doing his 3rd year in b-tech at IIT Madras.
Students of IIT Madras demanded that something has to be done by the management considering the trauma the students might be facing related to the recent deaths. The students also stated that suicides are the effect of mental trauma and asked the management to provide a helpline for the students who might be going through it.
Trauma affects a lot on someone’s mental health and that’s where it starts. Mental trauma destroys an individual internally and also destroys the will to survive. So, it is not something that can be shrugged off.
We might not see Voice of Media Breaking News and Web Stories what someone is going through but that doesn’t mean they’re okay, keep checking on your friends and loved ones. If you see someone struggling with any sort of mental help, be there to support them or help them get support. If you are in any kind of pain, please try to approach a friend or well-wisher or a helpline, some people understand you. Stay strong! We, the team of tvbharat24 might not know you but we are rooting for you and we believe you will reach great heights.
